Melissa and Carl Sneak Peek!

Melissa and Carl held their wedding on family property out in Dripping Springs, TX. As I understand it, only months prior the entire area was filled with cedar trees and the groom, Carl, put in quite a lot of work getting it event ready. He also put in quite a lot of work building the amazing deck/overlook that they were married on but you’ll see that later. As always, I had a fantastic time second shooting for Natalie of Hazeled Photography (check out her sneak peek here) and can’t wait to work with her again.

Notice the heart in the wood in the lower right corner? I love it when things like that happen!

Welcome Baby Bentley!

I have known Matthew since he was an silly and slightly awkward adolescent, through him growing into a giant and now him becoming a father. A father! I can hardly believe it. Time is a crazy, crazy thing.

Few things are as precious as a newborn baby and I was honored to be there to capture these sweet moments with baby Bentley as he joined the world and his new family.

For several years now, I’ve volunteered with my sister’s 9th grade science classes. We use digital photography as a way to help solidify science concepts for them and the kids really seem to love it. They are excited about learning how to capture what they see in nature through a camera and they have been extremely successful in the district science fair as a result of our efforts. I am super proud of each batch of kids (I really am) but this year in particular, there is one student who is just a natural at photography. I look forward to great things from him in the future.

Over the weekend, the kids attended a carnivorous plant talk and then we did a photo walk through the park where the talk was held. Here are some of my images from the day.

One of my favorite things to do is discover a new place, be it here in the states or across the pond somewhere, even the thought of exploring somewhere new makes me entirely giddy. I have a whole board (on Pinterest) dedicated to places I hope to go someday, scads of bookmarks, guides for the future and every year we’ve been lucky enough to cross one (or two or three) off the list. This year we visited Wales and Amsterdam. Our lovely friends Kristie and Duvain were married in Wales and we were fortunate enough to not only attend but make a proper vacation out of the journey and extend our visit a bit.

A Day In The Life: Miss Katie

I absolutely love watching kids at play. They are so expressive and just so very busy. It’s entirely entertaining seeing what they are going to do next.

Meet Katie, she is such a doll and as you’ll see in the photos below, full of personality. I spent the afternoon following her around with my camera as she played with my nephew Connor and love the results. So many expressions to capture, so little time.

Let me introduce you to my son, Brody. The long hair, the skinny jeans, head-phones hanging from his shoulders, the ever-present knit cap even in the dead of summer heat. He’s going to be a senior this fall and could he *be* any more 17?

He has long refused to have any formal pictures taken of him at school. Sometimes he “forgets” that it’s picture day, sometimes the pictures never make it home, either way the end result is that I have no school pictures of my son since elementary school. This is both a blessing and a curse, it’s a blessing in that it means he had to agree to let me take pictures of him to document his growth and changes. It’s a curse in that I have less black-mail material for showing to girlfriends, friends, his graduation party, wedding stuff and future grandchildren.

Ah, such is life.

Whitney and Matt GIF

We’ve already seen a little bit of Whitney and Matt’s wedding on the blog (and hopefully you went to check out the sneak peek over at Hazeled Photography as well) but here’s a little something I put together with some shots from the formals.

Whitney and Matt

I can’t tell you how excited I was when the ever lovely and talented Natalie of Hazeled Photography¬†asked me to be a second shooter for Whitney and Matt’s special day.

From the wedding at the Church at Horseshoe Bay, to the reception at Spicewood Vineyards, everything was just gorgeous and we took a TON of photos (check out Natalie’s sneak peek here) trying to capture it all. I think it’s easy to see just how FUN and LIVELY this bunch is, they really kept that dance floor hopping.

Here’s just a taste of their wedding day.

Congrats to the happy couple!
